|
Irrespective of the privacy issues, Google has personalized your searches by taking into account your search history when
returning search results. A9, used on amazon.com
has used this type of algorithm for some time now but it could only refer to e-commerce purchases. Google can reference your
search history data to output personalized search results.

A number 0f search engines offer methods to localize their search results. Google allows users to view the search results that are returned for
different geographic areas. From Google's Matt Cutts:
http://www.google.com/search?q=bank&gl=us searches as if you’re in the U.S., and returns Bank of America at #1. http://www.google.com/search?q=bank&gl=uk does the search as if you’re in the UK, and returns Lloyds TSB at #1. Yahoo and ask.com allow users to search by locale. This type or search is best for local goods and services. |
